Domestic Violence

1.2 million women are victims of domestic violence last year. 400,000 women were sexually assaulted or raped over this period. According to Office of National Statistics, 86% of victims of serious assaults know the perpetrator of the crime.

This is a summary of the services available for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Hounslow.

Hounslow is working hard to Of particular interest may be details of the One Stop Shop. The One Stop Shop is held every Tuesday at Montague Hall (opposite Hounslow Police Station) from 10am till 12pm.

Anyone experiencing domestic violence (and is a Hounslow resident) can attend, no appointment necessary, and receive free information and support from a variety of services. They include; solicitors, refuge, NSPCC, Homestart, Housing, IHEAR (Drug and alcohol service) and the domestic violence outreach service.

There is also a leaflet attached, outlining support for victims of sexual violence through an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA). ISVA is a free confidential service that provides support and advice to all survivors of sexual violence that reside in Hounslow

There is also a service for survivors of sexual violence including stranger rape. This service can also be accessed at the One Stop Shop.

Both services are open to men and women.

Finally, attached also is some information regarding the “let’s talk programme” This is a free 12 weeks structured therapeutic group programme for children affected by domestic violence, with a parallel programme for mothers.

The aims of the project are to provide:

children’s groups to help children to process their experiences and begin the healing process.
mothers’ groups to support women to understand how to help and communicate with their children.
