Health education for kids

We are collaborating with our partners in NHS NW London. Together, we are offering a ‘Body Works’ health Virtual (VR) reality education programme for kids. Expert clinicians deliver this programme. This is part of our NHS Work experience.

This will be done in the metaverse so children can have a more fun and immersive experience. For example, we will share advice on physical and mental health, as well as, careers advice to secondary school children. This has been done online and in schools.

Why are we running this programme?

This is part of NHS Northwest London project to reduce health inequalities. Education is a major factor linked to poor health outcomes.

As a result, we are organising a series of health education webinars. We are doing this with our partners to show kids how the body works.

Evidence shows healthcare, partnering with schools, families and communities reduces health inequalities and promotes wellbeing.

What is the metaverse?

The metaverse is a digital landscape. It offers an immersive experience, providing a fun way to bring expert clinicians and children together to improve learning. Therefore, it can be used especially effectively in health education.

Using interactive digital models, we bring teaching to life. A report from PWC showed the impact the metaverse can have.

Do I need a VR Headset?

Nope. You can see what we see with our headset.

We know that not everyone has a headset, so, we have a small number of headsets that you can use at our real life GP Practice.

Health education is key to confidence in self care. We are working with our research colleagues to measure the impact on children’s knowledge, skills and confidence in their own health.
