During the pandemic, it felt like our gardens got a bit wild with all the stress, didn’t it? But guess what? We’re not alone. 1 in 4 people in England goes through tough mental times each year, and 1 in 6 folks deal with things like anxiety and feeling down in any given week.
Now, here’s the good part – we can totally be mental health gardeners! By making small changes and keeping an eye on how we feel, we can help our minds grow happy and strong. It’s like giving our superhero cape a little extra sparkle.

Embracing our minds – mental wellness
It has been a pretty difficult time for us all in the last few years. Our staff and other experts will share their insights on how to stay ‘mentally fit’ and what to do if you need some extra help.
Recent years, have been tough. So what can we do to improve our mental health? There are plenty of life events which can affect the way we think and feel. Having a baby, being stressed at school, our employment status, working from home, grief.
Luckily, we’ve resources here, which should be able to guide you through all aspects of a healthy mind. From gardening for mental health, to mental exercises you can do to stay sharp and happy. Fitness isn’t just about our cardiovascular and muscular selves, as you’ll find out, it’s about how we train our brains too.
Why Mental Wellness Matters:
- Happy Thoughts, Happy You: When we take care of our mental wellness, it’s like turning on the happy switch in our brains. We get to enjoy more good thoughts and feel awesome about ourselves.

- Express Yourself: Just like drawing, writing, or talking with friends, expressing yourself is like giving your mind a high-five. It’s okay to share what’s going on inside!
- Take Breaks: Superheroes need breaks too! Whether it’s reading a book, playing games, or chilling out, taking breaks helps our minds recharge.
- Stay Connected: Friends and family are like the sidekicks in our mental wellness journey. Talking to them and sharing feelings makes our minds feel supported and loved.
- Healthy Habits: Eating yummy and nutritious food, getting good sleep, and staying active are like superhero fuel for our minds. They keep us strong and ready for anything!
